NBA superstar Ja Morant is currently serving his suspension for flashing a gun on his social media post. It was initially reported that Morant will be out for at least two games. He missed out on his second straight game against the Los Angeles Lakers where the Memphis Grizzlies struggled without their star player and succumbed to a 103-112 away loss. With this, the Grizzlies have now lost both games without Morant. After the game, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal gave his take on Morant’s actions.
Many players, analysts, and legends have shared their opinion about the whole situation. While many have criticized Ja for his actions, some have shown support as well.

The Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the best teams in the Western Conference despite being the third youngest teams in the league. Furthermore, the team does not even have one player who is 30 or older. During the NBA on TNT segment, the host talked about the age factor of the Grizzlies’ side and asked what advice would Shaquille O’Neal say to Ja Morant like a big brother. Shaq stated that it was a bad decision from Morant to go on Live and flash his gun. The Los Angeles Lakers legend then said to Ja that everything he has worked so hard for can be taken away if he is not careful. However, he added there is no excuse for what he did because he went Live.
He said that athletes should stop putting themselves in positions like this because everything can be taken away. O’Neal then talked about Ja buying their parents a nice mansion and added that he feels bad for Morant, his parents, and his child. According to a YouTube video posted by Bleacher Report, Shaq said, “You got to have enough common sense to know that wasn’t gonna go the way you wanted it to go. You’re not a rapper, you’re an NBA player.”

He also wondered why Ja was shirtless in the club. The four-time NBA champion stated that he is not going to “jump” on Morant. However, he still criticized the last year’s MIP for his decision to go Live on social media because it was his decision, and he has to deal with it.
Morant’s return is still unknown
Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins recently talked about the return of Ja Morant. Jenkins stated that there is no timetable for the point guard’s return. This is a huge blow for the young Grizzlies team that showed so much promise this season and sitting third in the Western Conference standings.
