The NBA draft is one of the most exciting times of the year. The basketball community eagerly awaits young talent getting picked to lead their respective franchises. This year, it is going to be no different as several talented individuals are creating buzz, none more so than French sensation Victor Wembanyama. With the 7’4 giant widely reported to go #1, the next pick becomes important in choosing the best among the remaining draft pool. Charlotte Hornets have the 2nd pick currently and their apparent decision about whom to draft has fans slamming the much-maligned franchise owned by Michael Jordan.

The Hornets had a season to forget, a trend that has become too common for the fans’ liking. Jordan’s team has not performed well in the league for years now. Therefore, the expectations of the fans are that they’ll bring in good talent to help them in the upcoming season. As of now, His Airness has failed to make a difference amidst the NBA Draft buzz which is causing fans to turn on him.

Fans call out Michael Jordan for potentially missing out on the top draft prospect

Failure has been a constant part of the Hornets for the last few seasons. This year, they finished as the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 27-55 record. In fact, since Jordan got involved with the team, they’ve only managed to reach the playoffs three times. In that, they have crashed out in the first round each time. Fans have been very critical of the Hornets’ management and this time was no different.

There are several athletes lined up to be picked by teams in the NBA Draft. Among the top prospects who have everyone’s attention is Scoot Henderson of the NBA G League Ignite. Henderson is widely touted to be one of the top three picks this season and teams are lining up to bring him in. However, the Hornets have started to run backward in that race. As per several reports, the Jordan-owned team was once high on the 19-year-old but has turned its attention elsewhere. They’re now eyeing Alabama forward Brandon Miller instead of Henderson.

Although Miller is among the top prospects as well, fans don’t seem to be in agreement with this decision of the Hornets. With Charlotte already having a potential star guard in LaMelo Ball for the foreseeable future, adding another ball-dominant guard in Henderson might not make perfect sense. However, fans believe he is too good a talent to pass up, irrespective of the balance of the roster.
