Apart from being one of the greatest NBA players ever, Shaquille O’Neal is also a great father. He has various unique parenting styles under his belt which are admired by parents across the world. During a recent segment of the ‘Big Podcast with Shaq,’ the four-time NBA champion had a piece of advice for his 6 kids.

Talking about attending his kids’ games, he advised them to not try and copy their father. According to him, he is an alien and also apparently ‘crazy’ which is why the kids should not be like him.

Shaquille O’Neal has a piece of advice for his 6 kids

Four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal has 6 kids. His eldest son, Shareef O’Neal is already well on his way to becoming an NBA star like his father. However, Shaq doesn’t want his son or any of his kids to emulate him.

On the recent episode of ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq’, he had a piece of advice for his kids. Don’t try to copy the 7-foot-1 inches tall NBA legend. Rather, try to be yourself.

Shaq said, “I tell them all the time, you ain’t gonna be like me. Your daddy was crazy, your daddy is an alien. I don’t want you to try to be like me, be yourself.”

This came in response when Nichelle Turner talked about Shaq’s kids having the added pressure whenever he is in attendance. O’Neal asserted that they should not feel pressurised as he is not looking for perfection.

O’Neal has 6 kids among which 4 were given birth by Shaq’s former wife, Shaunie Nelson. They had a messy split and Shaq has taken the blame upon himself more often than not.

Shaq lost his marriage while searching for success

Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal is very ambitious. While it helped him in his NBA career and build a fortune worth $400 million, his nature cost him his marriage. In the book, ‘Shaq Uncut’, he talked about how ambition spoiled his personal life.

Shaq wrote, “It wasn’t the big stuff, it was the small stuff, and that’s my fault. I had things to do. I was trying to win, trying to make some money. I admit I wasn’t the best partner.”

In the same book, he talked about how he is growing as a person and learning to be a better person. Since his divorce, Shaq has dated models and eminent names from Hollywood. However, Shaunie remains the only woman he has ever married.
