When Giannis won his first MVP award, people weren’t ready to crown Giannis as the best player in the league. They said Giannis did not have a jump shot. But he showed them they were wrong. And this is not the first time that Giannis had to prove his worth.

An old clip of Giannis talking to reporters has surfaced, and it has become viral. A young Giannis is seen talking to reporters, and he talks about going for the win. And then he makes a bold statement. He says he wants to win the MVP award. And hearing that, the reporters started laughing. They did not believe that Giannis would become that level of player who can be an MVP award winner. In fact, no one would have thought that young, tall, lanky kid would become the face of the league.

Giannis showed promise in his first three years in the league, but he wasn’t an all-star yet. However, he had his breakout season in 2016 and following which he was named an All-Star. He led his team in all statistical categories, something only a handful of players had done before. In 2018, under new coach Mike Budenholzer, Giannis stepped up his game. The Bucks were a major threat in the East and Giannis had won his first MVP award. He followed it up by winning it the next year as well. But he did not have the same level of success in the playoffs.

However, last year, Giannis adapted in the playoffs, and he played to his strengths. He took smart shots and let the game come to him, rather than forcing it. And this proved to be a masterstroke. The Bucks marched all the way to the title and Giannis was leading from the front. And now, they are one of the favorites to repeat and Giannis is one of the frontrunners for the MVP award. He will do whatever it takes to defend his title as the best player in the land.
