Talking to Maria Shriver, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife and renowned journalist, Jordan once discussed the pressures of being a father figure for his fans. Shriver asked MJ whether he believes he is a father figure to many kids all over the world. “Unfortunately yes”, the Bulls legend said. “Because so much has been made of role models today, that’s why my position is so important,” he added.
Shriver then asked him whether people believe he ever does enough for them. “Oh no! You never could do enough,” said Jordan. “It’s so many people that need help but you can only touch so few people. Sometimes you have to say no…they don’t quite understand it and that’s the sad part about it because you want to touch everybody but you know you can’t,” he concluded.
The Chicago Bulls great discussed the pressure of people viewing him as a father figure. He also mentioned not being able to help everyone because one can only touch so many lives.

In 2020, Jordan and Nike’s Jordan Brand pledged $100 million over ten years to fight injustice and racial inequity. The large sum of money will go to organizations fighting for racial equality and social justice.
