The game clock read 2 seconds; one shot and two points were all the Los Angeles Lakers needed to win against the Boston Celtics. LeBron James dribbled up to the paint – with a layup on his mind. As the Celtics closed in on him, he got in motion to execute the play. But frustration followed this sequence of play. The four-time champion missed the layup and as videos show, there was contact with Celtics’ star Jayson Tatum close to the board. This contact was not called nor noted as a foul. The game went to overtime with the scores tied at 105. LeBron yelled and hit the floor while Lakers’ star Patrick Beverley rushed to the referees with a camera.

The cameraman on the sidelines had supposedly captured the point of contact. Beverley walked up to the referee and pointed at that image that proved the foul. He made his case animatedly only to receive a technical. Unfazed by the penalty, Beverley walked away but halfway through this walk, he looked back and pointed at the image once again. Videos of this interaction were all over the internet in seconds. The NBA community was left floored by Beverley’s attempts.
