James Harden is one of the NBA’s most prolific players. From being the 6th man of the year on the OKC Thunder, Harden became the frontman of the Houston Rockets. Although he won a number of accolades with the franchise, the one thing that kept eluding him was the NBA title. His best chance to win the title in Houston came alongside Chris Paul. However, the duo lost out to the Golden State Warriors in the 2018 Western Conference Finals.

The ‘Beard’ then found himself in the Brooklyn Nets alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. However, after failing to achieve success, he would be traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, where he now plays with Joel Embiid. In light of the many stars that Harden has had on his side, Celtics legend, Paul Pierce made a bold claim on the former’s legacy. He mentioned that he could have won five titles if he had the same partners as Harden did in terms of talent. This put the Twitterverse in a storm with heavy backlash on Pierce.

During an episode of ‘No Chill with Gilbert Arenas’, Pierce made a bold claim on Harden’s legacy.

“If I had the chance to play with the talent that Harden played with, I’d probably be walking out of here with 5 championships,” said Pierce.

Thereafter, Pierce explained that Harden played with stars such as Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard, Kyrie Irving, and Joel Embiid but has not won a title yet. This statement from Pierce caused a heavy backlash from fans on Twitter.

Clearly, the fans feel differently. They believe that Harden during his MVP years had to get past the Golden State Warriors super team. Moreover, they also added that Pierce too had stars such as Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo on his squad. The surprising fact is that this Celtics team only won a single title. Hence, the fans believe that Pierce’s statements on Harden are incorrect.

Regardless, Harden’s aim will always be to catch that ever-elusive NBA title. And right now he has a strong chance to do so alongside Joel Embiid. With the 2022 Playoffs closing in, Harden and Embiid will go all-in to bring the championship to Philly. They will have to put forth their best level of basketball in order to win.
