The highly anticipated ‘Air’ movie recently hit the theatres and the NBA world has been buzzing about it ever since. The Ben Affleck directed film features the lucrative deal which tied down a rookie Michael Jordan to Nike. Academy Award-winning actor Matt Damon plays a pivotal role in the film as he portrays Sonny Vaccaro, the Nike executive who got the deal done. In a recent interview, Damon shared some of his experiences while shooting the film, including his wife’s sharp dig at him after watching the film for the first time.

The plot of the movie is set in 1984 when a young Jordan signed the deal which changed sporting history. As a result, Damon and the other characters had to dress accordingly. As it turns out, Damon’s wife Luciana Barroso was not a fan of the look. During the interview, the actor revealed a hilarious exchange between them.

Matt Damon’s wife was not impressed with his look in the new Michael Jordan film

‘Air’ is only the second Amazon title to secure a theatrical release after Late Night, which was released in 2019. While many have commended Matt Damon’s performance in the film, it seems his wife is not a fan of her husband in the film. She isn’t particularly fond of his dressing style.

During an episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, Matt Damon shared a lot of unheard details about the making of the film. However, the most surprising fact was Damon’s revelation of his wife’s reaction after watching the movie for the first time.

In Damon’s own words, “I showed a rough cut of the movie to my wife and the movie ended, and I turned it off and said, ‘What’d you think?'”

She goes, ‘that movie is great, you look awful,'” added the veteran actor. Both Meyers and Damon had a good laugh after the Good Will Hunting actor revealed how he got insulted for his look by his own wife.

Damon plays the role of Sonny Vaccaro in the movie, who is credited with bagging the 5-year $2.5 million deal. The actor usually wore beige colors which didn’t really appeal to both the actor or his wife.

Matt Damon and his wife played a role in the movie’s release date

Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso tied the knot in 2005 after dating for quite some time. Interestingly, the ‘Air’ movie’s release date was influenced by the couple.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Damon revealed that 5th April was chosen because he met his wife on this day. Damon said, “This [5th April] is the day we [Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso] met 20 years ago.”

Interestingly, this is a special date for Michael Jordan as well. The Chicago Bulls legend wore numbers 45 and 23 during his time in the league. Incidentally, the film’s release date happens to be 4/5/23! Coincidence? I think not!
