The four-time NBA champion wore size 22 shoes. So it is no wonder he has huge hands. As per reports, O’Neal’s hands are estimated to be close to 10.25 inches in length and 12 inches in width. While there are advantages to having big hands as a basketball player, there are disadvantages as well. Typically, many centers struggled with hitting free throws consistently and their huge hands are considered a reason for it.

Even if it is not the case, the Lakers legend sure struggled with free throws throughout his career. His inefficiency in hitting the free throws consistently encouraged opponents to foul him hard under the basket. Technically, he could miss one of the two free throws as he averaged 52.7% from free throws in his career. Furthermore, teams started fouling even before he received the ball and ‘Hack-a-Shaq’ was born.
