Michael Jordan has been the face of Nike since he first came to the league in 1984. Nike clinched the opportunity to sign a young Jordan. The sneaker and apparel brand used Jordan’s worldwide popularity, giving him his own shoe line Air Jordans. Nike’s business went to the next level after their partnership with MJ which has lasted nearly 4 decades.
After his retirement, the Jordan brand continued to excel and MJ began signing famous athletes and celebrities to endorse his shoes. However, once, Jordan dealt a $20 million blow to his friend Fat Joe due to his controversial rap beef with 50 Cent.

Fat Joe was supposed to be the first artist to collaborate with the Jordan brand. He has been a big Air Jordan fan and had the most exclusive collection of Jordans out of celebrities.
In his memoir, Fat Joe revealed that he and Michael Jordan were good friends. He met MJ six times as the duo brainstormed a design for Fat Joe Jordan sneakers. Sadly, the deal never got through after the MTV award fiasco involving 50 Cent.
Michael Jordan cancels deal with Fat Joe
While pulling out of the deal, Michael Jordan reportedly said, “You know I love you, Big Joe, but you’re too hot right now. I wanted to do it, but I?m not into all that rap beef. With all this controversy, we can?t do the sneaker anymore.”

Back in 2005, Fat Joe and 50 Cent were supposed to perform during the Video Music Awards in Miami. Both the rapping stars were present at the location with their crew and there were signs of a possible confrontation in the air, Moreover, Fat Joe did not want to disrespect MTV and hip-hop during the awards.
However, 50 Cent did all he could to provoke Fat Joe in an attempt to make him react. Meanwhile, Fat Joe came to the stage to present Missy Elliot with an award when 50 Cent jumped up to the stage standing a few feet away from Joe just to antagonize him. Fat Joe tried to keep his calm in an attempt to avoid a possible confrontation.
The situation escalated when 50 Cent fired shots of abuse at Fat Joe on Live TV. Luckily Joe had already left the show. However, the abusive comments from 50 Cent made his problems with Fat Joe worse.
