However, Griner felt something different when she was about to make her debut in the WNBA. BG stated that the last few months before her debut had been a whirlwind of media, travel, and drama. The wait made Griner eager to go out there with the Phoenix Mercury and put on a show for the fans by making hoops.

Griner wanted to look nice as she planned on making a statement like great NBA stars. BG wrote, “You grow up watching players like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant walk into arenas wearing expensive suits, carrying bags and you can see they’re making a statement.”

Brittney Griner was left with the dilemma of choosing what to wear before her big debut game. The 31-year-old wanted to look nice and not just fine. So, she woke her girlfriend Cherelle up to help her get dressed. The duo chose a navy blue shirt with white polka dots and Levi’s jeans.

Moreover, Griner and Cherelle tried pairing the shirt with a pink-purple bow tie, but they had to learn how to tie it by watching the video. After over 15 minutes, they realized that the bow tie was too big for the collar. So, Griner ended up wearing a pink and blue tie which was already tied

The Phoenix Mercury center suggested that the NBA greats were trying to express their personality with their dressing style when they do not have a basketball in their hands.
