On February 7, 2022, the Los Angeles Lakers centerpiece, LeBron James, rewrote history as he became the all-time leading scorer. When James achieved the feat, chaos ensued in the building. Everyone was on their feet to show some respect to the four-time champion except Anthony Davis. Surprisingly, Davis remained glued to his seat. Though AD explained the reason behind this a couple of days later, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal recently slammed him for his apparent disrespect.
Shaq is often relatively straightforward and doesn’t hesitate to speak his mind. Therefore, the 15x All-Star didn’t hold back while sharing his views about Davis.

In one of the recent episodes of ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq,’ Shaq slammed Davis for his actions. During the podcast, Shaq asked whether AD explained why he was not celebrating when LeBron James achieved the iconic feat. Nischelle Turner(one of the co-hosts) said that the 2020 NBA champion explained that as they[Lakers] were losing the game, he was frustrated and therefore didn’t stand up. However, Turner further added that she didn’t quite like the optics of his explanation.
Subsequently, the Lakers legend said, “You know what’s special about us? We don’t even have to say something, we can read faces….Listen, I understand what he[Davis] is saying but the way it looked, especially when you got 100,000,000 people watching that moment…I understand this thing but it’s just you know the way it looked.”
The 15x All-Star’s statements implied that he understood that AD was frustrated, but it was not appropriate to sit when everyone was standing up to celebrate the historic moment.

Along with clarifying the reasons for not standing up, Davis expressed that he was disappointed with how things were construed against him. The 2020 NBA champion stated that he called James to apologize the next day. Moreover, the eight-time All-Star added that he even apologized to his teammate during the Lakers’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Feb 9. AD finished by saying that both of his apologies were met with appreciation and acceptance from James.
