The Golden State Warriors were in uncharted territory after going down 0-2 in the playoffs. Before this, head coach Steve Kerr had never gone 0-2 down in the playoffs, except for the 2019 NBA Finals. To further spoil their plans to come back stronger in game-3, Draymond Green was suspended by the NBA for stomping on Domantas Sabonis in game-2. While many have supported the league’s decision, some have defended Green, including Colin Cowherd, who recently compared the incident with one of Michael Jordan’s altercations.

Despite the suspension of their star forward, the defending champions won the game 114-97 at home. The Sacramento Kings succumbed away from home and registered one of their lowest scores for the season.

Colin Cowherd talked about the suspension of Draymond Green during a recent podcast. The media personality talked about the report that the Warriors were “livid” about the suspension. He said that the Dubs were not angry at Green but they were angry that the league suspended him for one game.

Cowherd added that Steve Kerr was only angry at the leaked video of Green punching Jordan Poole, not the altercation itself. He noted that the Warriors know what the four-time NBA champion brings to the team and claimed that they would not have won four titles without him. Cowherd added that the 2017 DPOY “galvanizing” the Dubs during practices, meetings, flights, etc is only known within the team.

The veteran reporter argued every great offensive team needs a player like Green. Cowherd stated, “Once again, they know what he provides. You don’t have to like it. But I’ve watched my entire career, everybody in Dallas hates T.O. ‘Oh wait, he’s a Cowboy? We love T.O.’ Everybody in Detroit loved Laimbeer, Rodman, the tough guys, Maurice Lucas in Portland. So I don’t wanna hear about, ‘This is outrageous!'”

Cowherd also compared Michael Jordan punching Steve Kerr during his Chicago Bulls days with Green’s altercations. He argued that most people would have sided with Jordan, pointing out his “relentless” mindset, if that video ever got leaked, “But if the video ever surfaced of Michael Jordan punching Steve Kerr, you’d have lined up to defend him. ‘Michael’s a winner…Steve Kerr’s gotta understand his role.'”

Therefore, Cowherd slammed Green’s critics calling out their double standards. He also stressed that every team needs a Draymond Green to do all the dirty work the stars won’t do.
