The highlight in the NBA goes to the top scorers or the best three-point shooting players. Even the high-flying dunkers in the game get a lot of respect and recognition. But rarely do we see elite defenders getting the respect they deserve. And it is usually when another top-level player talks about them that some recognition falls on their doorstep. This was the case in a video of a former Washington Wizards All-Star talking about his teammate.

Gilbert Arenas was one of those sleeper players that went unnoticed in the NBA draft and then went on to explode later in the league. Arenas was the 31st overall pick in the second round by the Golden State Warriors.
Arenas displayed instant star caliber as his minutes went up by his second year in the league. He went on to join the Washington Wizards by his third year and achieve stardom, becoming an instant leader for his team.

Arenas said, ?I did not respect none of it up there, it was irrelevant to me. If you look at my games versus the guys who were considered the All-First Defensive team, they got their a** barbecued. Well, one, I had a secret. I had Larry Hughes, who was a defensive player.?
?I got to really test my limits of scoring against him. So I?ll just talk sh*t, ?You can?t guard nobody, you?re trash, you can?t stop me.? So he gets mad, goes on the other team or I go on the other team and I get to really push and see what I can get away with,? added Arenas.

Arenas also went on to say, ?So when I had to face other guards, ?You guys are lunch meat.?? Hughes was the All-Defensive First Team in 2005 along with being the steals leader in the same year as well. But not enough justice had ever been done to his skillset in the game. It surely was refreshing to see his former teammate highlight his dominance in the league.
