It seems like LeBron James is a highly competitive person. But in his position, who wouldn’t be? You can’t just be called one of the greatest basketball players for no reason. King James once said that he had the ‘win or bust’ mentality. Additionally, he admitted that there were times when he wanted to choose another sport. LeBron made these confessions in an old episode of The Shop that was released in July 2022.

When it comes to sports, every athlete has that competitive mentality by default. Unless you have that drive to win, you will hardly go far in your career as an athlete. And not just sports, competition is everywhere. Therefore, it should not be surprising that the Los Angeles Lakers superstar believed in doing everything possible to win, with losing as the only alternative. During the chat session, LeBron shared that there were times he wanted to switch to another sport. The reason was that not everyone in his ‘club’ had the same mentality as him.
“There’s times when I wished I was a tennis player, or a golfer when it was literally like, look in the mirror, it’s you versus you,” said James.
Furthermore, he jokingly stated that having a losing mentality could even make the best players give their worse performances.
“Like literally I don’t give a f*** who’s on that club, you can have Jordan, Shaq, Iverson and have Jesus Christ as your coach, they’re gonna lose, it’s like literally the culture,” said LeBron.
James Blake responds to the comments made by LeBron James
After the episode of LeBron James‘ Uninterrupted was released, it caught the attention of a certain former tennis player. James Blake responded to LeBron James’ comments through his official Twitter account. Interestingly, Blake thanked LeBron for choosing basketball instead of tennis.
I just heard the comment that @KingJames sometimes wishes he played tennis instead. As someone who already played in the @rogerfederer @RafaelNadal @DjokerNole era, thank you for picking basketball.

In his tweet, Blake mentioned that he has played in the same era as the Big Three – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Blake wrote that he was thankful LeBron didn’t join the ranks of the Big Three as a competition to Blake. Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic share a total of 63 Grand Slams. Therefore, LeBron would probably have had to break a sweat to compete with them. However, LeBron’s ‘win or bust’ mentality would have driven him to go up against all three of them without any second thoughts. The same would have happened if he had chosen golf and his opponent would have been four-time PGA champion Tiger Woods.
