Popular standup comedian and actor Dave Chappelle has been among the latest stars to have addressed the Kanye West and Kyrie Irving anti-semitism controversy. The popular rapper and Brooklyn Nets guard have received a lot of criticism for their recent social media disasters. However, years before mocking Irving, Chappelle once used LeBron James as a reference to shade women and the WNBA during a standup performance about equality between the two genders.

During his performance, Chappelle joked about LeBron James changing his gender and playing in the WNBA. He used the Los Angeles Lakers superstar as a reference to address the WNBA debate about the transgender community and equal rights.
Chappelle uses LeBron James in a hilarious WNBA joke
The popular comedian questioned the audience in his 2019 Netflix special, Sticks and Stones, if LeBron James changed his gender, would he remain in the NBA or move to the WNBA. Because he would be a woman then. He added that James could possibly end up scoring 840 points a game.

Then, Chappelle raised another question about the actual meaning of equality. He claimed in a joking manner that if women were equal to men there would be no WNBA and the female players would play in the NBA. Dave Chappelle added, “Or, here’s another idea that’s going to be very controversial. You could shut the f**k up.”
The 49-year-old’s comments on LeBron James and the WNBA were so hilarious at the time that the audience burst into laughter. However, such remarks attracted a lot of flak from different sections of society. A lot of WNBA fans highlighted the fact that such jokes only perpetrate division and hinder the progress of women’s sports.
Chappelle mocks Kanye West and Kyrie Irving
Chappelle hosted his third post-election Saturday Night Live recently. The previous two iterations came after the Presidential elections in 2016 and 2020. However, the centerpiece of the 2022 SNL was the antisemitic controversy involving Kanye West and Kyrie Irving.
The renowned comedian began the show by denouncing all forms of anti-semitism and showed support for his friends in the Jewish community. Then, he took a hilarious shot at Kanye West regarding his controversial comments about the minority community. Chapelle added, “And that, Kanye, is how you buy yourself some time.”

He used jokes to mock West and laid out some of the myths and stereotypes about anti-semitism. Further, Dave Chappelle also took a dig at Kyrie Irving. He pointed out that Irving was not even certain if the holocaust existed. Chappelle suggested that Irving should be asked to post a link to the movie Schindler’s List as a punishment. Moreover, he stated that Irving was nowhere near the Holocaust. The comedian added, “In fact, he’s not even certain it existed.”
