After a storied NBA career, Dwyane Wade has earned praise as a father. Not only does he love all his children, but he has made efforts to educate not just himself but also others. This comes from his daughter, Zaya who came out as a transgender back in 2020. Not only did Wade accept her, but he embraced her decision, guiding her each step of the way. Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union are extremely proud of their daughter and are also allies to the LGBTQIA+ community. However, not all share the same opinions as the Wade household. And this made the three-time NBA champion take a huge life decision.
Recently, Wade sat down with Rachel Nichols for an interview that took a deep dive into the decisions he takes with regard to his family. This comes just a couple of years after Wade and Union made $22 million off one of their Miami properties.

When you take a look at Wade’s legacy, it screams of Miami. Drafted by the Miami Heat, the NBA legend brought in three championships to the city. He became one of the most beloved stars of the city. So when you think about where he lives, the obvious answer would be Miami, right? Well, as it turns out, D-Wade doesn’t even live in Florida.
This might seem surprising. Dwyane Wade has it all in Florida. He is a Miami icon, the tax rates are great, and you can’t forget the ‘Wade County’. However, what comes beyond all is family, and that is the reason the Heat legend took the big decision to not live in Florida.

“A lot of people don’t know that. I have to make decisions for my family, not just personal, individual decisions,” said Wade. “I mean, obviously, the tax [situation] is great. Having Wade County is great. But my family would not be accepted or feel comfortable there. And so that’s one of the reasons why I don’t live there,” Wade explained, as reported by People.
