Charles Barkley is undoubtedly one of the funniest people in the NBA world. After mesmerizing the spectators with his heroic displays on the hardwood, the former MVP became an analyst and has been entertaining the fans with his hilarious comments ever since. As entertaining as his comments might be, some of them have gotten Chuck into trouble. Among such rifts, Barkley’s beef with the city of San Antonio has become a part of the NBA folklore. Sir Charles had used several occasions to throw jibes at the city and its people. Now Barkley has added another chapter to this episode of beefs after making a comment on basketball prodigy, Victor Wembanyama.

The former 76ers star hasn’t been a fan of the San Antonio Spurs and the city that houses the team. Earlier, in a pre-game show, Barkley had said that the Spurs are overrated, and he made fun of many things about the city. Of all the jibes Chuck threw at the city, his comments on San Antonio women are the most notorious. Sir Charles had roasted the women of the city for being big, old, and for eating churros. Nonetheless, the Round Mound of Rebound has now made a remark on the up-and-coming basketball star Victor Wembanyama, alluding to the obesity of certain people in San Antonio.

Victor Wembanyama needs no introduction for the NBA fans. The 19-year-old French prodigy is widely anticipated to be the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft. The San Antonio Spurs are one of the many NBA teams that are trying to land the French talent. Since the Frenchman’s prospects of signing for the Spurs is a popular topic in the NBA world, Sir Charles and co-hosts spoke about the matter in an episode of Inside the NBA.

Given Barkley’s generational hatred for the Alamo City, he immediately made use of the ‘Wembanyama to Spurs’ rumor and poked fun at the city. He said, “I’ll tell you what, Victor Wembanyama will be great in San Antonio. If he goes to San Antonio, he’ll definitely gain some weight.”

“He won’t have to worry about being skinny down there. He won’t have to worry about being skinny in San Antonio. Hey, Victor, go to San Antonio, they’ll put some weight on you,” Barkley said on Inside the NBA.

The Western Conference side is already having a tough time in the league as they are 14th in the West standings. As the Spurs have already been eliminated from Playoff contention, the only relief for the fans will be drafting Wembanyama. Adding to the mayhem, Sir Charles brought back the old joke.

Standing at 7’5″, Victor Wembanyama is popular for his towering physique. However, the young man is rather a bit skinny for a seven-footer. It is exactly this fact that prompted Barkley to go back to the old, infamous joke. However, if things fall in place and Wembanyama makes it to the Spurs, the fans can let out a sigh of relief.
