Magic Johnson is undoubtedly a legendary name in sports. He is a trailblazer in all things basketball and business. Eateries including Burger King, Starbucks, fitness centers, and movie theatres, he has a range of businesses that he has invested in. With a massive portfolio, Johnson has extended his ownership legs to three Los Angeles-based teams. The Dodgers, the Sparks, and the LAFC soccer team all have Magic. Literally.

In the late-night TV show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’, fans saw a very happy Magic Johnson.

Magic Johnson on his next investment

He talked about Dodgers fans and how their attendance records have been consistent throughout a whole decade. Jimmy Kimmel asked Johnson if he would want an NFL team too. To which he responded, “That’d be nice”.

In 2012, Johnson purchased the LA Dodgers. It was his relationship with the then-Lakers owner, Jerry Buss that prompted him to become the Dodgers’ part owner. It still remains one of the most expensive purchases in sports history. The Dodgers were valued at $2.5 billion. Additionally, his involvement has made the team’s improvement apparent.

Johnson has set his eyes on another team

It does not come as a surprise that Johnson loves football. His interest to have a stake in the NFL is not a secret either. Earlier this year, he was said to have joined a group bidding, including the 76ers owner Josh Harris. Multiple reports stated that his next team ownership would probably be the Denver Broncos. Forbes had estimated the purchase to be valued at $3.75 billion. Walmart heir Walton-Penner eventually outbid them.

In the past, the NFL has come under criticism for its lack of minority owners. As of present, Shahid Khan of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kim Pegula of the Buffalo Bills are the only two people who are minority owners in the league.
