He recently spoke about Jordan’s docu-series The Last Dance and Jordan’s admissions for his faults.
Sam Smith wrote one of the most popular books on Jordan, The Jordan Rules, published in 1991. While the Chicago Bulls legend reached the pinnacle of his career, Smith made waves in the NBA world with his criticisms of MJ in this book. While the 6x NBA Champion carried the good-guy image in front of the media, Smith’s book questioned every MJ fan’s beliefs.

Over the years, Sam Smith has made several criticisms of Michael Jordan. MJ hasn’t made any official response, but he addressed the criticisms in his docu-series. Moreover, Smith even accused MJ of lying in the docu-series. While speaking in a recent podcast with Colin Cowherd, he said that Jordan finally admitted to his faults. He said, “one thing I was kind of pleased about… the Last Dance documentary is that Michael sort of copped to all this finally took 30 years.”

He mimicked MJ, saying, “Yeah, yeah, I could be a jerk, but you know I had a reason for it.” Even though Smith contradicted his own statement after the release of the docu-series, it seemed as if he had found his solace finally. This podcast episode came in the wake of the premiere of MJ’s biopic Air. The film revolves around Nike‘s iconic Air Jordan deal.
Sam Smith called MJ a liar
While the NBA world missed the action during the lockdown, the docu-series The Last Dance came in as a savior for many. When the fans enjoyed the legendary journey of the Bulls in the 90s, Sam Smith had something unusual to say. He called MJ a blatant liar. He said, “There were several things in the documentary that I saw, I would know, that he made up or he lied about.” Despite Smith’s criticism of MJ, he has always had his fans cheering for him.
