Charles Barkley’s NBA-based opinions always generate controversy and laughter alike. However, Barkley doesn’t shy away from venturing into other sports as well. He has had hefty thoughts regarding golf, football, boxing, and various other sports. One common thing when Chuck sits with anyone is a lot of entertainment. There is not one dull moment when the Inside the NBA commentator gets his opinions and anecdotes rolling.

He shared one such anecdote when talking to the Kelce brothers on their podcast, “New Heights”. Apart from that anecdote, it is interesting to know what is his favorite sport, interestingly it is not basketball.

Charles Barkley’s love affair with Football

This was not the first time the former Philadelphia 76ers forward came face to face with Chief’s tight end. The footballer revealed that it was during an NBA Finals game. The NFL Great revealed that he was star-struck when meeting Sir Charles, considering he is the tight end’s favorite player. This happened when Barkley was covering the NBA Finals.

“I don’t normally go out during the game, I only go out when we are doing the show. And somebody said, ”Travis Kelce is here”. I said “the tight end?”. I gotta meet him”. Then the entertaining personality revealed that “football is my favorite sport”. Then he went on to relate his brief experience of football practice and he concluded. “I played one day and then I realised y’all were freaking nuts”.

The jolly TV personality then described his practice experience. He said,”I think it was bad coaching. The coach told me that I should have put you on the defensive line. Cause all the real positions no disrespect to you Trev, in football are offensive and defensive line. There is no cheating on the offensive and defensive line. You have to earn your keep. I was on the defensive line. The last thing coach said to me “I will see you tomorrow”. I said, no no”. Chuck realized that football was not for him just after a day of practice. 

Travis Kelce admired Charles growing up

The NFL Great had earlier talked with Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley during the last episode of ‘The Steam Room”. Growing up, the two-time Super Bowl champion had adored Barkley.

His favorite player was Charles Barkley while growing up, and he even went as far as calling himself Charles during a block party. To this, the successful TV personality revealed that he never liked the name Charles and would have preferred the name Trevis.
