With nine games scheduled, Tuesday was a busy night for the NBA world. While fans watched their respective teams battle on the hardwood, there came a time when everyone shifted their focus to the game between the Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks. They did so for the international star from Slovenia, Luka Doncic. The Mavs star left the NBA world gawking at his historic performance. Throughout the game, Doncic dribbled with easy and executed shots in style. His stat line read – 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists – it was undoubtedly poetry in motion. As the league came to terms with this performance, some were quick to discredit the All-Star.

Notably, Doncic’s 60-20-10 triple-double was a first in NBA history, let alone a franchise record. As this fact was discussed widely, James Harden fans chimed in, attempting to discredit the $207 million star’s magic. They pointed out that Harden had played a Doncic-like game in the past. During his Houston Rocket days, Harden had bagged 60 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists against the Orlando Magic. The tweet containing this fact made rounds online. However, a large chunk of the NBA community stood up for Luka Doncic.

Fans quickly pointed out the difference between the number of assists and rebounds. For them, it was straightforward, the three-time All-Star’s performance was simply better than Harden’s. They found this narrative to be unnecessary and encouraged people to appreciate the greatness unfolding. Some stated that Luka was now on the way to destroy the records under Harden’s name. Fans also claimed that no one cared about Harden for he has no rings and Luka was more probable to bag one since he is only 23.

An epic ending to the game between the Knicks and the Mavericks

The victory over the New York Knicks marked the fourth-straight win for the Dallas Mavericks. However, this game was certainly the most exhilarating one. With four seconds left in the game, Doncic was fouled and the scoreboard read 115-112 to the Knicks. As he stood on the free throw line, he made one shot and then purposefully missed the other.

As players from both teams rushed to collect the rebound, the ball ended up back in Luka’s hand. With just one second to spare, the 2019 Rookie of the Year took the shot and tied the game at 115-115.

While the world knew that the game was entering overtime, Doncic thought that they had won.?In the post-match conference, he said, “I thought we won the game, and then I see it?s tied. I was like, ?Oof.??? Eventually, the Mavs did win, but Doncic’s performance had rightfully stolen all the thunder.
