The Denver Nuggets went on to clinch their first-ever NBA title after decimating the dark horse Miami Heat in the Finals. Despite beating the Heat in the Finals, Nikola Jokic and his men seemed more focused on their victory against the Los Angeles Lakers. A statement from a public ceremony after their championship game induced Lakers fans’ wrath. Following the statement, fans took to social media to roast the team with hilarious opinions.

The Nuggets took on the Lakers in an exciting Conference Finals contest and swept the series. LeBron James’ men put up a strong fight and almost took their team home in a couple of games. However, the Denver franchise’s dream championship run pinned down the Lakers force. 

Nikola Jokic & Co’s ‘Daddy’ claim induced fans’ wrath

The Nuggets’ dominant run this season reached its destination on Monday in front of their home crowd. Following the victory, Nikola Jokic and his men took over the headlines with their victory celebration. Additionally, the team’s head coach, Michael Malone, received wide appreciation for his efforts.

However, it didn’t last long until a statement during the public ceremony which prompted the Lakers nation to roast the side. While praising coach Malone, a Nuggets staff said, “He came into this world as the son of a coach, but in these playoffs, he became the Lakers daddy,” in front of the rousing crowd. 

Notably, Malone’s father, Brendan Malone has had a meritorious coaching career with 2 championships as assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons.

Following the statement, the Lakers nation assembled to hit back at the Nuggets with harsh opinions and memes on social media.

Interestingly, the Lakers swept the Nuggets during their championship run in 2020. While the statement goes viral in the hoops community, some fans expect a brewing rivalry between the sides. 

Even though LeBron James’s future in the league is still uncertain, some fans expect the Akron Hammer to seek revenge in the upcoming season.
