By leading his team to the NBA Finals, Jayson Tatum has been a great player for the Boston Celtics. As the Celtics reach this point in the Finals, he has played a crucial role in helping to make their record. He and his team have put on some great performances, against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat, in particular.
Their current performance could give them a fair chance to win this year’s championship. In the event the Celtics win, it will be their first title since the 2008 season. According to their current statistics, they’re making pretty good scores over every match, but if we look at other teams’ performances like the Los Angeles Lakers, they’ve been quiet this season.

Even though the Lakers had their three best players in Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, and LeBron James, they failed to get to the playoffs. Just recently, Tatum revealed something that’s making big headlines online.
Despite his first choice being the Lakers, not the Celtics, the Lakers didn’t pick Tatum up at the time. It was Lonzo Ball instead of Jayson that the Lakers selected in the 2017 NBA draft.
Jayson Tatum not getting a chance to play for the Los Angeles Lakers
As we all know, Jayson is a big fan of Kobe Bryant, how much he admires him. In a recent interview, Tatum talked about his “dream” to play for his “favorite team”. Among the things he mentioned was that:
“The Lakers were my favorite team, and Kobe was my favorite player,” said Tatum. “So it was crazy that the Lakers had the second pick and I was so close to a dream come true. But it was just like they didn’t want anything to do with me at the time.”
As a result, NBA Fans go nuts as Tatum admits that the Lakers were his first choice over the Celtics. There have even been some fans who said: “Magic made the call to draft Lonzo over Tatum. Lonzo was seen as a Magic Johnson type of player and Tatum a scorer. If Magic wasn’t the PBO, then Rob probably would’ve taken Kobe’s advice to take Tatum.”
Tatum talked about missing out on his dream of playing on the Lakers.

It is unfortunate that Jayson didn’t get to the Lakers, but right now he is playing his best basketball with the Celtics. As the number one player on a Finals team, he has a very good chance of winning this championship.
