WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu recently etched her name in the record books. The NY Liberty star achieved a milestone that has never been breached by any WNBA athlete in history. Ionescu made her debut in the league three years ago and a special card was released after that. During a recent auction, the card was sold to a bidder for a record-breaking bid which has taken the NBA and the WNBA world by storm. While this is an impressive feat for the WNBA, their highest-selling card doesn’t even come close to the record set by LeBron James.

The four-time NBA champion made his much-anticipated league debut in 2003. A special rookie card was released to commemorate the occasion, which broke records a few years ago after a multi-million dollar sale.

WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu is the center of all the attraction currently. Her team, the New York Liberty, recently made some interesting free-agent signings. WNBA legend Breanna Stewart joined Ionescu and the rest of the team after a successful 2022 campaign.

Moreover, Ionescu has been winning off the court as well. According to recent reports, her 2020 rookie card has sold for an impressive $10,800, which happens to be the WNBA record.

The demand for Ionescu’s card increased after New York Liberty’s latest signings. Moreover, there are only five such cards around the world, which adds to the value. The card features the 25-year-old on the front and at the back. However, it still didn’t came close to LeBron’s record.

LeBron James broke all records with a massive bid in 2021

For more than one reason, LeBron James’ debut season with the Cleveland Cavaliers was special. Although he entered the league in 2003, King James was already in the news since 2001. After years of disappointment, the Cavs fanbase finally had someone to look up to. And safe to say James definitely lived up to the expectations.
