In this reel, Shaq said, “I have a solution for the WNBA. I dont know if you know, in males beach volleyball and women’s beach volleyball, the net is lowered just a little bit. So the only thing missing from WNBA to the NBA is the dunk. “

He believes that lowering the rim will make it easier for WNBA players to dunk. As a result, it can make the game more exciting.

However, this wasn’t his first idea for the WNBA. He had once started a company with a WNBA legend.

Shaquille O’Neal, along with WNBA legend, DeLisha Milton, and Mike Piazza, created the Santa Monica-based firm Dunk.net with the ambitious goal of transforming the internet sports market. By delivering unique merchandise, interactive experiences, and engaging content, the company wanted to give fans a special platform to interact with their favorite players. The company initially attracted attention and received large investments owing to the status and competence of its founders. Dunk.net had a promising beginning thanks to the support of industry titans.

Unfortunately, Dunk.net’s launch coincided with the early 2000s dot-com bubble burst. This had a detrimental impact on many firms, including Dunk.net. Investments fell off once the speculative bubble burst, creating an untenable financial environment. Despite Shaq’s substantial net worth, the business’ financial stability started to deteriorate. It eventually led to a string of setbacks that were challenging to get through. Dunk.net became more and more financially unstable. The company eventually had to make the difficult choice to fire everyone. There were attempts to restart the business, including changing the CEO to a marketer, but all failed. The eventual acquisition of Dunk.net by a domain squatter hastened the company’s downfall.
