Jimmy Butler has been on a dream run recently. Especially in the playoffs for the Miami Heat, Butler switched on to a gear that was not seen in the NBA for a long time. He dropped 98 points in two games, causing one of the biggest upsets in the league’s recent history. The Heat managed to eliminate one of the favorite title contenders, the Milwaukee Bucks. Now he is leading his team in the Conference finals and they currently hold a 3-2 lead.
With such a phenomenal run, it becomes obvious that he would inspire other athletes. Tennis star Coco Gauff was singing high praise for the Heat star while she hoped to be as clutch as a performer as Butler. In the same conversation, Gauff also busted the “myth” around Butler in the playoffs.

The Heat were in an uncomfortable situation at the end of the regular season. The 7th-seeded team found themselves in the play-in tournament where they lost their first game. With their back against the wall in a do-or-die situation, Butler stepped up to the occasion and has continued a string of great performances since. The 33-year-old single-handedly made sure that the Heat gave no chance to a very dominant Bucks side. In his 56-point game against the Bucks, he made the world stop and pay attention to him. The 6x NBA All-Star followed that with a 42-point game and sealed the series 4-1 against the Milwaukee team.
About a month ago, tennis star Coco Gauff talked about Butler and her admiration for the star during an interview. She said, “I think he’s just underrated.” Although the 19-year-old then stated that people have started to notice Butler’s abilities as a top-class athlete. Especially after a series of great games he has had. Butler has also earned himself the nickname “Playoff Jimmy” which aptly describes what he has done this season. Gauff said that people thought that Playoff Jimmy was just a myth, but “Playoff Jimmy is a legend. It’s not a myth.”
