The defending champions, Golden State Warriors, ended their season after falling 4-2 short in the semifinal series against the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite Stephen Curry’s consistent performance throughout the postseason, the team missed the opportunity to grab its 5th ring due to an underwhelming performance from the teammates. Moreover, an interesting Chef Curry moment caught the NBA world’s attention. The Dubs superstar left a strange message to a 24-year-old Lakers’ rising star after Friday night’s loss.

The Warriors faced their first-ever playoff series loss outside of the NBA Finals in the head coach, Steve Kerr’s era. Despite the team’s disappointing loss, the 2x MVP showed confidence in the team for the upcoming season during the post-game press conference. Notably, Curry seemed upset with a particular Lakers star for his outstanding clutch performance in the series.

The Lakers’ star Lonnie Walker IV took to his Instagram after the Friday night game and shared a series of photos with the caption, “Losses turn into pain, then they become advantages”- @getbenny.” Among the array of photos, a particular image involving Stephen Curry stood out. The image featured a signed jersey from the Dubs superstar with a note written on it. The note read, “To Lonnie. Keep Building! All Love! Will Never forgive you for game 4…!”

 

In game 4, the Warriors fell short of 3 points, as the Lakers sealed a 104-101 game. The Dubs had an 8-point lead after the third quarter and were looking to level the series. However, Walker IV came off the bench and dropped 15 points in the last quarter. Whereas, the Dubs managed to drop only 17 points.

Moreover, the Lakers superstar LeBron James gave the 27-year-old star a long hug after the game for his clutch game. Notably, the LA side carried the game 4 momentum and kicked the defending champions out of the race.

The semifinal series defeat against the Lakers put the Dubs in an unfamiliar place of not reaching the finals. Moreover, Lonnie’s clutch performance in game 4 played a huge role in it. In response to the performance, James praised the young man. The Akron Hammer said, We don’t win this game without Lonnie Walker tonight. That’s for sure,” during the post-game interview.

After eliminating the Dubs, the Lakers take on the top-seeding Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference finals. The fans have to wait to witness whether King James grabs his 5th ring this season.
