The Denver Nuggets (24-12) took a good bite from the winning streak of the Boston Celtics (26-11) in their game tonight at the Ball Arena. The Nuggets walked away with the game 123-111. Both teams are the top seeds for the NBA’s Eastern and Western Conferences, but the game had an unprecedented delay of 39 minutes caused by an unlikely culprit.

The rim of the basket was found to be uneven. The stadium’s management got down to work following the incident. Furthermore, NBA fans begged online for a postponement of the game.

During the fourth quarter, Celtics’ Robert Williams caught a pass and charged for the basket. When he threw down the ball for an alley-oop dunk, he hung at the rim for a bit more, before landing on his feet. The rim was then finished.

The NBA world exploded with comments demanding that the game be postponed. The officials could only get the rim back in order and balanced after nearly 40 minutes. The Nuggets were already in the lead, and they stayed on that track even after the game was re-commenced.

Here are some of the reactions from NBA Twitter:

According to the Boston Globe, the Nuggets were also in a good mood during the delay. Deandre Jordan took time to play rock-paper-scissors with a fan. Jokic ran through the court. The arena also entertained itself as time went by. In-house entertainment like the ‘Kiss Cam’ and ‘Fight for your right to party’ was followed by the crowd singing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Rocky the Mascot also made an appearance, looking to help the officials, who eventually had to bring in two ladders.

Robert Williams ended the night with 8 points and 6 rebounds.

Jokic, favorite pick for the MVP?

Nikola Jokic posted 30 points, 12 rebounds, along with 12 assists. He is already number one on the MVP ladder, and his games justify his array of skills. If he wins it this year, it would be a historic three-peat for him, becoming the first player to win three MVP awards since Celtics legend Larry Bird.
