Two years ago, Kobe Bryant and eight others lost their lives in a helicopter crash. A sense of dread set on the world, especially in the city of Los Angeles. His wife, Vanessa had tragically lost both her husband and her daughter, Gianna. However, recently, the 40-year-old was hit with another nightmare. Firefighters and members of the sheriff’s department leaked photos of the gruesome crash to the outside world. Having panic attacks on just hearing the news, Vanessa Bryant took the fight to court.

The testimonies revealed the acts of the firefighter and sheriff’s department deputies who showed off the pictures outside of the proceedings. Likewise, the jury found Los Angeles County guilty. Vanessa Bryant was subsequently awarded $16 million for emotional distress caused during the entirety of the event.

However, she wasn’t the only one who fought. Christopher Chester, who also lost his family members in the crash, stood alongside Vanessa in the case. And the jury made an error in the awards given which will now see Bryant’s team let go of $1 million.

Like the Bryant household, Chester lost loved ones in the Calabasas crash. He lost his wife, Sarah, and 13-year-old daughter, Payton Chester. Likewise, he also joined in on the fight for justice for his own family. In the case of civil rights, Chester was awarded a sum of $15 million. However, it seems the court meant to be giving out equal rewards to both parties.

The errors were made in the verdict form as Bryant was awarded an extra million dollars for past distress. Hence, Vanessa Bryant will have to give up the required sum.
