Though there seems to be a lack of chemistry in the team, a former NBA veteran from the Boston Celtics believes Luka Doncic is the sole reason for the team’s poor situation. The 38-year-old shared a wild take calling out the Slovenian playmaker for his inadequate efforts on defense, which has triggered the Mavs star’s fanbase.?

Big Perk points a finger at Luka Doncic for the Mavericks’ downfall

Things were a lot different when Kyrie Irving joined the team. After months of not receiving any support from his teammates, the Mavs organization reordered a part of their core for the veteran guard. Though fans had a lot of expectations from the Doncic-Irving combo, the Mavericks’ performance under their leadership has been subpar.?

There doesn’t seem to be a problem with the offense. However, a case in point for the Mavs’ weakness right now is how with Irving scoring 41 points and Doncic 22, the Mavs still suffered a tough OT loss to the Atlanta Hawks yesterday. Defense has been the major problem for the team this season. Former Boston Celtic Kendrick Perkins believes Doncic, especially, has not shown any efforts in the defensive play-making of the team.?

Big Perk mentioned in a show, “When I watch Luka, I get so disturbed by body language…It is easy to say it’s Kyrie’s fault. It’s easy to say J Kidd don’t know what he is doing. But at one point I’m actually going to start to point my finger at Luka about his bad habits, his poor leadership skills, about him not putting forth the effort defensively, about them having a word on whether or not he is going to be in shape.”

Fans throw shade at Kendrick Perkins for his wild take?

The Dallas Mavericks are currently on a three-game losing streak and have lost seven of their last eight games. However, Perkins ultimately blamed the Slovenian guard for the downfall.
