The month of March is all about commemorating countless women who have sacrificed and contributed a plethora of things to society throughout the years. In March, the whole world celebrates Women’s History Month. In light of this, the 2019 NBA champion Toronto Raptors decided to join the world and pay tribute to the women through a video involving a few players from their franchise.
However, instead of meeting with praise, the said video received backlash and soon needed to be removed. Moreover, the Raptors issued an apology statement, much to the surprise of fans.

According to ‘The Toronto Sun’, the Toronto Raptors wrote the following in their apology statement, “We’re an organization that prides itself on doing the right thing when it comes to inclusion and representation, and we made a mistake.?Our sincerest apologies to our players, our staff and our fans — we’ll work to do better today and every day after.”?They wrote the aforementioned statement for the following video.

In the above video, Malachi Flynn, Precious Achiuwa, and Scottie Barnes could be seen paying tributes to the women in their own way. While Barnes paid them tribute in a fairly simple way, the statements of Achiuwa and Flynn implied that they exist only to procreate. The aforementioned players definitely didn’t want to mean it that way but somehow fans received it differently and therefore vented their disappointment. The Raptors could have focused on other aspects of life to give flowers to the women but they certainly didn’t. In an attempt to commemorate the women, the Raptors somehow failed to deliver correctly.
Fans were seemingly confused after coming across the apology statement
Initially, many fans were angry when they came across the tribute video. Therefore the Raptors removed it and issued an apology statement. But surprisingly, the apology statement confused a certain group of fans. Most of them couldn’t understand why was the apology statement issued in the first place as they thought the video was a perfect tribute. However, a few other users did clarify the reason behind the apology statement in the comment section.

To those asking “Why are they apologizing?!?!”:
The topic was Women’s *HISTORY* Month.
*HISTORIC* women.
Making *HISTORY*.
They went straight to “reproductive organs.”
Badly framed question; but if you can’t get better responses, don’t post it.
They were right to apologize

For those who don’t understand the problem with this video. They want to make it seem like the only thing women are good at is having kids.
