Dwyane Wade is a man of many talents. The Miami Heat legend has found success in business and fashion. From being known as ‘Flash’ on the court to ‘Mr. Flashy’ off it, the Chicago native has always carried himself in an impeccable manner. However, before he became the inspiration that he is today, the legendary guard never intended to be a fashion icon. A decision made by a Hollywood icon put him on this path, though and he has never looked back since.
Wade has earned a lot of plaudits for his fashion statements on various red carpets over the last few months. The 3x NBA Champion is almost always joined by his wife, Gabrielle Union, at these events. The two of them have often been the highlight but Wade’s life might have been different had he not met Sean Combs, commonly known as Diddy, in 2005.

During a recent appearance on the Top Billin podcast, host Bill Bellamy asked Wade about his fashion journey. Recalling his first major break in the industry, the Miami legend revealed it was due to Diddy that he got in. The now 51-year-old Hollywood icon was at a Miami Heat Game in 2005 where Wade caught the mogul’s attention.
Further explaining how the story unfolded, Wade stated, “In 2005, Big game in Miami I go crazy, and puff (Diddy) is at the game.” Recollecting memories from that day Wade recalled going out to a club after the game. Revealing how it all went down, Wade stated, “I am in the back, and all I see is lights coming through, and like big dudes coming at me and boom Puff walk up to me.”
