Brittney Griner’s exile in Russia last year was the most stressful time of her life for the WNBA star. She spent nearly 10 months in a Russian prison. After months of struggle, the US government was able to bring her back home through a prisoner swap deal. The 32-year-old is back to enjoying her life, while still advocating for those facing the same problems she did. However, recently the power couple gave fans a taste of the hilarious banter that goes on in their daily lives.

Brittney and Cherelle Griner have been very vocal about the wrongful detainment of some US prisoners on foreign soil. The couple often use their social media platform to highlight the plight of American prisoners abroad. Other than that, they also enjoy spending quality time together, posting pictures from their trips or from their daily lives at home.

WNBA star Brittney Griner accused of playing too much by wife Cherelle

The 8x WNBA All-Star married Cherelle Griner in 2019. Cherelle was one of the major reasons behind Griner’s return from the Russian prison. She was relentless in her pursuit of bringing back her wife to her home soil. She started campaigns and sent multiple requests to the government, which helped amplify her cause.

As people began to rally behind her, joining their voices to free Griner, months of struggle and hardships paid off. After Griner’s return, Cherelle wrote a long thank you note to the people who lend her their time and support to their family’s cause. Now Griner is back home, and nobody is more relieved than Cherelle. However, she recently called her wife “annoying” as she tried to wake her up, showing that their domestic lives have gone back to normal.

In an Instagram story shared by Cherelle, Griner can be seen waking her wife up. Although it was all playful, Cherelle wasn’t very happy with Griner’s attempt. She said “Bro! Who wakes up like this?” In response to the Phoenix Mercury star asking “Like what?”, Cherelle said, “Annoying.” The WNBA star’s significant other also accused her of ‘playing too much’.

Griner clearly woke up before Cherelle and couldn’t resist annoying her wife. Although the two were just having fun, or at least Brittney was, Mercury fans must’ve loved the sight of their star finally enjoying life after months of hardship.

Cherelle Griner continues to fight the good fight for the people

Although Griner has returned home, Cherelle is not willing to stop talking about the US prisoners in foreign countries. She recently shared the story of Evan Gershkovitch. Gershkovitch is also detained in a Russian prison. Cherelle informed the US government that he is wrongfully convicted and should be brought back home as well.
