Jordan’s time as the owner of the Charlotte Hornets has been nothing short of disappointing. Ever since he purchased the majority stake in 2010, the Hornets have made it to the playoffs only twice where they suffered an embarrassing first-round exit both times. Moreover, there were continuous changes in the team which did not help them in building a franchise player. The last genuine superstar the team had was Kemba Walker, who was also later traded to the New York Knicks.?

Though this season looked pretty bright at the start for the Hornets with LaMelo Ball back in the team, things did not go their way. After continuous losses, Ball’s injury added fuel to the fire. Further, MJ’s decision to sell his ownership stake has left the Hornet fans in denial.?

However, Sam Smith, an American author and major critic of MJ thinks the Hornets owner did not have any choice but to quit on the team. In his interview with the founder of ‘Volume Sports’ Colin Cowherd, Smith mentioned, “You are around somebody who is successful doesn’t mean you are going to be successful. You know it’s difficult to sort of pick guys. Michael you know had difficulty… Who exactly could he trust in those situations?

The Hornets need to get lucky

Further in the interview, Sam Smith mentioned, “Ownership, management is an awful lot of luck. The Bulls locked into Jordan in 84. Had they not, they wouldn’t have had any titles. You know you gotta get lucky. Charlotte has never gotten lucky.”
