It took a lot of hard work and dedication for Dennis Rodman to become one of the greatest and strongest NBA players of the 90s, but all that he had to go through was without his father. In the 1990s, Rodman was one of the Chicago Bulls’ big three players.

There was arguably no team that was as difficult to compete with as the one led by Rodman, Michael Jordan, and Scottie Pippen. In his prime, Rodman made a performance that inspired him despite the fact that he was struggling with many issues in his personal life. On the court, he was avoiding these problems and was able to remain concentrated on the game.

There have been a number of interviews in which Rodman has discussed his family situation. Many times he has talked about his father leaving him and how his mother was not showing him the love he wished for.

Rodman’s father abandoned his family when he was three or four years old. Back in his prime years, he mentioned in many interviews how he couldn’t accept a person who left him for the majority of his life.

In another instance, his father Philander Rodman once came up front and supported him wearing the Chicago Bulls jersey, but at that time, he was not able to accept him. Back in 2012, he decided to give his father a chance and traveled to Manilla, Philippines, to play an exhibition match.

The two-time All-Star even asked his father to watch his game during a pre-game press conference. Even though it took time for him to accept the situation, he eventually met his father. In addition to this, he has also discussed his relationship with his mother in a number of interviews. A number of years ago, Rodman’s mother discussed the situation when Rodman’s father abandoned the family.

In the absence of his father, Dennis Rodman had a difficult childhood

His mother talked about the circumstances she had to endure while Rodman’s father Philander abandoned the family. She also talked about Rodman’s anger toward her. “I was 28, with three kids, working three to four jobs,” Rodman’s mother explained

“And my husband just threw us aside. Dennis never understood I’m only one person. I had to be both a mom and a dad. And I did the best I could. “ However, Rodman didn’t think it was enough, noting how austere and unloving she was.
