The Los Angeles Lakers made some drastic changes to their roster before the NBA trade deadline. The Los Angeles franchise got involved in multiple team trades and parted ways with two of their point guards. Patrick Beverley was traded to the Orlando Magic, while Russell Westbrook was sent to the Utah Jazz. However, a report regarding Russell Westbrook’s departure from Los Angeles has fans speculating about his decision to leave the Lakers.

To establish the backdrop of the trade, Russell Westbrook did not request a trade out of Los Angeles. Nevertheless, the Lakers’ front office decided to part ways with the nine-time All-Star.

Patrick Beverley was blindsided by his trade to the Magic, and Russell Westbrook too, had no intention of leaving the Lakers. But now, a report states that Westbrook’s camp prefers he leaves the city of Los Angeles for a fresh start.

According to the same report by Chicago Bulls reporter Sami Hassan, “Russell Westbrook is expected to finalize his decision between the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls during the All-Star break.”

Fans have speculated that it wasn’t Westbrook’s decision to leave. One fan sarcastically tweeted, “Yea. Russ def wants to leave his hometown where his kids go to school.”

While another fan commented, “Westbrook in my opinion is making a mistake Why not try to compete for a championship on a contender with the Clippers, who can surround you with shooting and defense, or even maybe the Heat.”

There is no doubt that Russell Westbrook is a little beyond his prime. Multiple injuries robbed him of his athleticism. However, that does not mean he can now be considered a washed-up player.

Westbrook still has enough left in his tank to help any team he joins. According to the reports, he may finalize between the Chicago Bulls or the Washington Wizards. And both teams are good options for the 34-year-old star.
