Only hours ago, one of the game’s purest talents decided to hang his boots. After 19 NBA seasons, and countless phenomenal memories, Carmelo Anthony is looking forward to the next chapter of his life. In a video reliving his basketball story, the former Denver Nuggets star announced his retirement from the game. Many of his friends and NBA stars came out to congratulate the legend on a glorious career. However, many wondered about one particular wish from a close associate – LeBron James.
While he couldn’t take it all in due to his playoff duties, The King did sit down to remember their journey from being high school opponents to teammates.

James and Melo go a long way back, far before their days in the NBA. Their rivalry began as high schoolers when Oak Hill Academy faced off against St. Vincent-St. Mary in 2002. Only recently the NBA fans fell into nostalgia when they watched the duo on the sidelines as their sons competed on the court. Life had come full circle.
But now Carmelo Anthony felt it was time for him to step away from a game that gave him “purpose and pride”. As one of the modern-day pioneers bid farewell to the game, LeBron James reminisced on the times they spent together on the court, and the brother-like bond they have developed over the years.
“I just want to say congratulations my brother. Where do I start? With us all the way back in high school sitting outside the hotel all the way to the battles we had together. I can sit here and talk for hours and hours. I am just so proud of you man, and so blessed and humbled to be a part of your journey. You’re one of the greatest players I have ever seen play,” said James.
