It is no secret that Steph Curry is one of the best shooters in the world. The Golden State Warriors superstar has cemented his place in the NBA as one of the finest, but little do people know that LeBron James was a huge fan of watching Curry play college basketball! 

While LeBron James didn’t play a single minute of NCAA basketball, he ensured that he visited and cheered on upcoming talents, and that’s how he fell in love with Curry’s game.

LeBron James has personally watched Steph Curry play not once, but twice

Steph Curry played for the Davidson Wildcats in his college career, and the point guard completed three years before declaring for the NBA. Though he received far less acclaim than what he’s getting now, Curry never failed to put on a show for the fans.

He averaged more than 20 points in each year and enjoyed spectacular seasons as a sophomore and a junior. It was during 2007-08 that Curry really began to earn a name for himself with his skill set. 

He averaged more than 10 three-point attempts per game as a sophomore and garnered a lot of attention, including that of LeBron James’. Back then, ‘The King’ decided to take some time off his NBA schedule and went to have a look at the Davidson prospect play.

Moreover, Steph Curry put on a shooting clinic the night LeBron came to watch him play and notched up 33 points in 6-11 shooting. In fact, his incredible shooting had LeBron cheering on from the stands!

Curry was so good that LBJ made yet another visit to watch him play

Steph Curry didn’t fail to make a mark when LeBron James came in person to watch him play. He put up a fantastic performance in the NCAA tournament, and LeBron James once again came to watch him next year, and Curry bettered his efforts from last time. 

To everyone’s delight, LeBron James was even more hyped this time around. Curry was in his junior year by 2008 and Bron attended a game during December, when Davidson was taking on North Carolina State.

Curry put on a show by scoring 44 points and shooting 45.5% from the field. He even drilled an impossible 30-foot three-pointer, which left LeBron speechless in the stands. 

“He had just a little bit of room and you can’t give him too much room. It was a huge shot,” LeBron said of Curry’s accuracy after the game.

Little did LeBron James know that Steph Curry would come to haunt his career years later, as the duo met each other in four straight finals series from 2015 to 2018.
