It is not a common sight to see records being broken. Moreover, it is difficult to even close up on some records. Notably, Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 points in a single game. Well, there is only one player who came somewhat close to it. Devin Booker took the NBA world by storm in 2017.

In a game between the Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics, Booker scored 70 points. Despite that phenomenal effort, he still ended up on the losing side. While he did not break the record, he solidified himself as a great scorer in the NBA, becoming the youngest player to ever score 70 points in an NBA game.

The last person to score over 70 points was Kobe Bryant. Hence, the comparisons between Booker and Bryant were flying in. Moreover, as ‘The Mamba’ is Booker’s mentor as well, to follow in his footsteps would have meant everything to him.

Since then, no player has scored 70 or more points in an NBA game. Booker etched himself into the history books forever, doing something no one expected that day. Against a tough TD Garden crowd, he turned them around with his performance.
