Tracy McGrady, in his prime, was one of the most deadly offensive talents the NBA has ever seen. The 7-time All-star’s repertoire of maneuvers made his opponents defending him look foolish. Therefore, when he sees players like Rudy Gobert, who earn more than $35 million per year, missing a bag of offensive moves, he gets upset.
Rudy Gobert and his offensive game aren’t new to criticism. The Frenchman is an excellent defender and has taken home the NBA defensive player of the year honor 3 times. However, when it comes to the offensive end of the court, his game is typically seen as subpar.

Tracy McGrady recently appeared on “No Chill with Gilbert Arenas”, where the subject of Rudy Gobert was brought up. T-Mac went on to call him out, sounding outraged at his lack of offensive threat.
“What the f*ck are you doing in the offseason?”, McGrady said. “Like, what is your workout? I was so mad at Rudy when they were playing against the Rockets one year, bro, and Chris Paul was guarding him in the post. I was mad as s**t. He couldn?t do nothing. Bro, you?re 7?2?, and a point guard is guarding you. He had no moves,” he added.
Tracy McGrady chastises Gobert for his lack of moves on the offensive end. Fair to say, the Frenchman’s offense falls well short of his defensive excellence. Though, he is extremely efficient, as he shot 71% from the floor last season. However, he only attempted ?7.7 shots per night. This is where T-Mac’s criticism becomes valid.
Who knows, he might learn a thing or two from his new teammate, Karl-Anthony Towns, who is one of the finest offensive big men in the game today.
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal reacts to Tracy McGrady’s criticism of Rudy Gobert
Shaquille O’Neal has been one of Rudy Gobert’s harshest critics. Shaq, like McGrady, has also criticized the Frenchman for his inability to offer anything offensively.
The two were also involved in a verbal brawl through social media over who would win a one-on-one match.

And when T-Mac hurled harsh words toward Gobert for his offense, ‘Big Diesel’ couldn’t help but react. The Lakers legend shared an Instagram story of another Instagram post containing McGrady’s comments for Gobert. Shaq didn’t add or wrote anything and merely shared the post as it was.

Perhaps that was Shaq’s way of expressing his agreement with McGrady’s assessment of the Timberwolves‘ new big man.

Rudy Gobert is undoubtedly one of the league’s best defenders right now. However, improving his offensive game would elevate him to All-Star status. And that would likely deter people from questioning his game.
