About three years ago, Draymond Green made a surprising admission regarding Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal, creating a stir in the NBA world. Soon enough, the Golden State Warriors star received a response from the big man himself, who brutally slammed Green for his statement. The feud was short-lived and ended with Shaq’s response then and there. However, fans were reminded of the online banter yet again when a former NBA champion dismissed Green’s opinions in a podcast episode.

It has been over a decade since Shaquille O’Neal retired from the league, but his incredible legacy continues to be a topic of interest. Therefore, when his on-court tactics came up for discussion, a former Nets star felt it necessary to remind Green why the Big Aristotle is included in the list of greatest basketball players.

2016 NBA champion Richard Jefferson recently appeared on JJ Redick’s ‘The Old Man & the Three’ podcast. Among the many topics discussed by the duo, one was related to the Basketball Hall of Famer. Their last Finals of the three-year run were played against Jefferson’s New Jersey Nets. Therefore, Redick asked him if there was any particular strategy they had to follow in order to overpower Shaq. The host asked, “What the f**k could you do with Shaquille O’Neal at that point in his career?”

Jefferson replied that he has played against some of the best players in his career. However, he continued, “With the Shaq sh*t, there was no f*****g guarding him! Draymond, you’re my boy and they thought ‘Oh, we bring his a** up and sh*t in pick and roll’. Dray, I love your defense. Like, the way he has played defense has really changed the game.

Furthermore, he added, “Bro, you were not going in ’02. You were not f*****g with Shaq bro. They changed how you had to construct your roster. You had to have two or three bigs just for f*king fouls. Not like good bigs, we just need bigs there, we need big bodies.”
