The Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Phoenix Suns in the second game of the four-game season series. And in the second quarter of the game, something bizarre unfolded. The Suns were inbounding the ball and they realized they had a man advantage. That was because former All-Star D’Angelo Russell forgot that he was on the court and was waiting at the scorers’ table. He had just checked in but he forgot to come into the game.
This is an all-timer! Russell not realizing he's supposed to be on the court, Suns play a possession 5-on-4, make a 3-pointer. #Timberwolves pic.twitter.com/3hrT51FGKO

The Suns saw this, and they pushed the ball. They got a wide-open three-pointer in the corner but they missed it at first. By then, Russell and the Wolves realized what was happening, and he ran back to the court. But the Suns were able to secure the rebound and they got another shot which knocked it down.
NBA fans were stunned after chaotic scenes break out in the Wolves versus Suns game
NBA fans were baffled to see Russell forgetting the basics of the game. They mocked the former All-Star and the Wolves.
Here are some of the reactions from NBA Twitter:
The Wolves have gone from the team that I maybe had the most fun watching last season to…whatever the hell this is. What on planet earth? https://t.co/et87Ynlu8X

And y’all think the gobert trade is the reason this team sucks💀

Great question. They have like 15 coaches. Someone needs to realize! Russell thought he was going in for Nowell, it appears. But even so, once you see 5-on-4, get out there! He has clearance to do so. You see him enter after the made 3. Not like he had to be signaled in.

Here in Minnesota we call this a power play and should have the best penalty kill in the league.

The Suns blow the Wolves out
The Phoenix Suns showed that the Wolves have a long way to go to contend. The Suns were without Chris Paul, but that didn’t seem to matter. They took the lead in the first quarter and they didn’t look back. The lead went up to 27 at one point but the Minnesota Timberwolves were able to cut it down.
The Phoenix Suns built a double-digit lead in the first quarter itself and they kept building on it. That lead ballooned to over 20 points in the third quarter. The Wolves were able to go a run themselves, but it was too little too late as the Suns won 129-117 in the end.
