This year’s NBA Draft was full of thrills for young athletes waiting in line to join the league. Several franchises have brought in some of the finest young players in the world. This was, of course, done in a star-studded event filled with glitter and glamour. Many came victorious, especially Victor Wembanyama as the first pick. While the 20-year-old was picked by the San Antonio Spurs and is all set for a bright future ahead. But, that’s not it.

On the big night of the draft, Wembanyama shocked another athlete just with the height he stands at.

Yes, you read that right!

The French national we’re talking about stands at 7’5 and is the most talked about athlete this year. And at 7’5, he’s the tallest active player in the league as of now.

The number one draft pick has been making a lot of noise in the world of basketball. In the last few months, his name was being brought up in several conversations about the best young talents. With him signing with the Spurs in this year’s draft, Wembanyama has already given a great start to his career. He is also one of the greatest basketball prospects of his generation. Some people have even gone as far as comparing his talent and hype to that of LeBron James.

While we are yet to see if he will match up with King James or not, Wemby is shocking the hoop community with his height.

The tallest active player in the league shocked a young, 20-year-old Ausar Thompson on draft night.

Thompson, who was picked by the Detroit Pistons as a 5th overall in round one, was shocked to see just how tall Wembanyama is. While the French national was standing in front of Adam Silver, Thompson was seen expressing his disbelief to the camera.

He said, “Dereck Lively is HUGE. This dude is so much taller than Dereck Lively that I was like, what in the world?” Just for context, Lively stands at a massive 7’1, the height of the giants. However, he pales in comparison to Wemby, who is 7’5.

Victor Wembanyama is going to miss FIBA this year

The number one draft pick in the NBA this year is going to focus on his rookie season. Because of this, he’ll not participate in the FIBA World Cup in France. He is preparing for his rookie season with the Spurs and then the Paris Olympics, which are to be held next year.
