NBA superstar Ja Morant was having a great season with the Memphis Grizzlies until very recently, when he was suddenly hurled into news headlines for all the wrong reasons. Recently, some major allegations against last season’s Most Improved Player of the year have emerged and gained traction on social media. Amidst all this, Morant took to social media and flashed a gun while he was out in a nightclub. This was met with a huge backlash from the media and NBA fans across the country. Meanwhile, Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce joined several NBA legends in addressing the incident and sharing his bewilderment on the whole saga.

The 2008 NBA champion has been on the receiving end of vicious violence during his playing career. In fact, he was brutally stabbed 11 times in his face, neck, and body while he was at a nightclub in 2000. After that, he has been pretty open about carrying guns to defend himself in case of any attacks.

Paul ‘The Truth’ Pierce has received some flak on social media for his interesting takes over the years. However, Pierce does not shy away from speaking his mind on pressing issues, candidly articulating what he truly believes in and seems like that has not changed now. Pierce took to Twitter and questioned the slander Ja Morant has been receiving for flashing a gun on Instagram live.

In fact, The Truth seemed pretty confused by the profound backlash received by the Grizzlies star. Pierce pointed out that rappers make millions of dollars waving guns and doing all kinds of contentious things on music videos without any scrutiny. Therefore, he was confused as to why Morant received so much flak for an activity that is pretty normalized in today’s society.

In a recent tweet, Paul Pierce stated, “But we glorify and normalize all the rappers who do it and get paid from waiving Guns in rap videos making millions . I?m trying to understand make this make since, what crime did he commit ?”? As a matter of fact, open carry of firearms is legal in many US states.

Incidentally, Pierce was the subject to a similar incident in 2021 when he was fired from his job at ESPN for an Instagram live session. During the IG live session, Pierce could be seen drinking and partying with a few exotic dancers in the back. Even though the Celtics legend didn’t commit any crimes, he was fired by ESPN because his conduct was deemed inappropriate by the organization.

Meanwhile, Pierce’s tweet on the Morant issue was met with mixed reactions from the fans. While some supported his take, many were not impressed. Some fans stated that it was not the first time Morant has acted out. However, this was not the first time Pierce has showed support for Morant. Earlier, he stated that he always carried a gun as well after he was stabbed and noted no one knows what Morant is be going through, so making any assumptions is unnecessary.

Last month, Ja Morant and his associates had an altercation with some of the Indiana Pacers players and staff after a game near the Pacers’ team bus. It was alleged that one of Morant’s associates pulled a gun at the Pacers while sitting inside a slow-moving SUV with the point guard. An investigation was held by the NBA, but they were not able to confirm the incident.

But Davonte Pack, a friend of Tee Morant, was banned from attending Memphis Grizzlies home games for the confrontation with the Pacers. Morant was disgruntled by this and took to social media to show his frustration. Then, a few weeks earlier, there were allegations that Morant punched a teen and flashed a gun at him during a pickup game.
