There’s a high chance that among the several NBA legends who come to mind, one common name would be that of Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. NBA veteran Doc Rivers recently shared a throwback incident involving Michael Jordan via Cody Westerlund of 670 The Score. As per the tweet shared by Westerlund, the Chicago Bulls legend apparently lost his temper in the locker room during an All-Star game. The Hall of Famer has taken part in 14 NBA All-Star games and it was in the year 1988 that Rivers got first-hand experience of what it was like to have MJ as a teammate.
Representing the Eastern Conference alongside legends such as Larry Bird, Dominique Wilkins, and Isiah Thompson, MJ’s team was up 6 points at the end of the second quarter. Wanting his teammates to put up a better defense in the game, Jordan apparently blew up at them during halftime.
Doc Rivers just shared the story that at halftime of the 1988 All-Star Game at Chicago Stadium, Michael Jordan "came in and basically went off on the guys and said, 'We're not losing in my effing building.'"

The 1988 game was the first and last All-star event that Doc Rivers participated in during his career. Taking a trip down memory lane, the Philadelphia 76ers coach recalled his brief conversation with Jordan during the halftime of the game. Given that Jordan wanted to up his team’s defensive game, he walked up to Rivers and told him to ‘pick up full court’. While playing defense rarely works in All-Star games, it turned out well for River, who was a defensive player.
He said, “It was great for me because I was a defensive player, which usually in the All-Star game doesn?t work. But in that game, there was defense being played. It allowed me to play a lot of minutes.”
