The Cavs pulled the trigger for Mitchell’s trade as they were desperate to get back to the top. They sent Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, Ochair Agbaji, three first-round picks, and two pick swaps. All for the three-time all-star, who was looking for a move away.
Donovan Mitchell’s insane reaction to his trade
The Jazz have been in rebuilding mode as they have sent away Rudy Gobert and a few of their starters. Moreover, they were looking to trade away Mitchell. They finally got what they wanted when the Cavs broke the bank for him.
However, Mitchell went crazy when he heard about the trade. Not because of who was in it, but rather who wasn’t. When he found out that Darius Garland, Kevin Love, Evan Mobley, and Jarret Allen weren’t included in the deal, he was ecstatic. And he then went screaming around the golf course.

The Cavs ensured that they did not give away the stars of the future and they got Mitchell as well. The Cavs have now three all-stars from last year and a potential superstar in Evan Mobley. They still have Kevin Love and Caris LeVert, along with Issac Okoro and Ricky Rubio.
This means that the Cavs held onto the majority of the core and they strengthened their squad. They did give away a fair share of picks but the Cavs want to win now and they are desperate to get back to the top.
