Recently, the 4x-NBA champion has added another feather to his cap for his off the court endeavours. Interestingly, Curry’s latest milestone might surprise the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who once wanted to slap Steph Curry.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the biggest champions of social justice in the NBA world. The Captain’s involvement with social concerns can be traced back to the Civil Rights Movement. Given Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s endeavours towards social justice, the NBA had introduced the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award in 2021 to honor those NBA stars who contribute their part in the fight for social justice.

The NBA has recently announced Stephen Curry as the winner of the prestigious Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award. The 4x-NBA champion was selected from a group of five finalists. The NBA acknowledged Curry for carrying forward Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s vision and fighting for the betterment of marginalized individuals and groups. A sum of $100,000 will be donated University of San Francisco’s Institute For Nonviolence and Social Justice on Curry’s behalf.

Steph has interestingly claimed the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award, weeks after the Captain said he wanted to slap Curry.
