The Phoenix Suns have been attracting interest from several buyers in the past few weeks. Ever since Robert Sarver’s announcement that the NBA franchise is up for sale, many big names have been reportedly interested. Earlier in September, Amazon founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos was reportedly considering buying the $2.6 billion worth Phoenix Suns. However, reports have since cooled down in the past month. Now, Bezos is again in the news for his reported interest in the NFL’s Washington Commanders.

According to a September report, Jeff Bezos was considering bidding for the Phoenix Suns. Many other suitors were reported to engage in a bidding war for the NBA side, such as Disney CEO Bob Iger, former Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, and Laurene Jobs. However, the Suns are still up for sale.

The Washington Commanders are also up for sale as owner Dan Snyder has hired Bank of America to help with the sale. Snyder and his family reportedly own a 100% stake in the franchise and are looking for all options to sell the team.
Jeff Bezos among interested buyers for NFL’s Washington Commanders after interest in NBA franchise
According to a recent report from TMZ, Jeff Bezos is interested in buying the Commanders. He is reportedly partnering with rapper Jay-Z, who is worth around $1.3 billion.

It is not surprising to see Jeff Bezos’ interest in the Washington Commanders. Amazon has long tried to enter the US sports industry. They have recently got the broadcasting rights for NFL’s Thursday Night Football’ worth a reported $1 billion per year. Amazon is also said to be ready to engage in a bidding war for the streaming rights for the NBA, said to be worth a billion. Apple has also expressed interest in the same.

Snyder bought the Washington-based NFL franchise for $800 million in 1999. It was the most expensive sale of a sports franchise at that time. The franchise was named the Redskins and Snyder was pushed by many to change the name in recent years. The name was changed to the Commanders earlier this year.

Snyder has been in a lot of controversies lately, primarily related to the work culture inside the franchise. The Commanders are worth $5.6 billion, according to Forbes. This is around a billion more than the Denver Broncos’ recent sale.
