James Harden and Joel Embiid’s Philadelphia 76ers have seen a departure. Danny Green has been traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. The 76ers have acquired guard De’Anthony Melton in return. The Grizzlies also got the No. 23 pick from Thursday night’s NBA draft. They now have rights on guard, David Roddy, as well.
The Sixers picked him no.23 from Colorado State University. Green tore both his ACL and LCL in his left knee during the playoffs. He posted a tweet subsequently thanking everyone on the Sixers team. He was a part of the franchise for two years and played 151 games for them.

35-year-old Green mainly played as a role player for the Sixers. He scored almost six points a game this past season and played around 22 minutes per game. He was useful enough for the team, but it was not enough for the Sixers.
He played a crucial role for the Sixers in the 2020-21 season where they captured the East?s No. 1 seed. He scored 9.5 points and had a 40.5% three-point percentage. His quick trigger from just beyond the three-point line and his veteran presence will be missed in the locker room. The 3 time NBA champion will now look forward to a new journey with the Grizzlies.
Melton will adapt to Joel Embiid and James Harden
The Sixers acquire Melton, a promising two-way player who should complement Joel Embiid and James Harden in Philadelphia, so the transaction makes sense. Melton averages 1.3 steals per game and has a career long-range shooting percentage of 36%. He’s only 24 years old, and his current contract still has two years left. Melton appears to be the precise kind of support player the Sixers should be seeking for their stars to thrive.

As a key reserve for the Memphis Grizzlies, he averaged around 10.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists this season. Melton had the highest percentage of any combo guard last year, grabbing 15.1 percent of the available defensive boards following missed field goals. If the move goes well, the Sixers will have a good role player with the Grizzlies having some amount of experience in their team.
